Samsung launches their Tizen-powered Z4 in India

Showcasing a robust set of specifications including front-facing camera flash, running Tizen - the Linux-based mobile OS – and an appealing price, Samsung recently released the fourth incarnation of their Z series, The Z4.

This device is the follow-up to 2016’s Z2 in the brand’s product line that has the Tizen OS as their primary strength. In a world ruled by Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS, it's refreshing to see companies like the Korean giant trying to establish the presence of an alternative OS.

Still largely unknown, Tizen is an Ubuntu-based OS that uses speed, performance, and improve battery life as their main attractions to gain traction in the mobile device’s environment.

Due to their short life, Tizen doesn’t offer a catalog of apps as large as their competitors, but in their defense, you can argue that having a strong brand behind it like Samsung, could flip this trend shortly.

Looking the specs sheet, the Z4 stands as a solid smartphone with a low price that could carve a segment in the market, due to their features and flexibility.

The complete specifications on the Z4 are:

4.5-inch WVGA (480x800 pixels) display with 2.5D curved glass, 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, external expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB), 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, GPS, and GLONASS.

Also has a 5-megapixel front camera, f/2.2 aperture and LED flash on the front and 5-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and the smartphone houses a 2050mAh battery.

The Z4 comes in two colors – Black and gold – and its starting price is Rs. 5,790.
