The company behind the world’s most popular search engine, the android operating system and many other applications, Google, set October 20th as the release date of their first smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL.
These mobile devices are going to mark the first phones that the company makes without the help of any other manufacturers. They also mark a break from their successful predecessor, the Nexus, a line that was made in collaboration with other phone brands like LG and Motorola.
While the Pixel and Pixel XL may be the first foray into smartphone making by the tech giant from Mountain View, they are already aiming to become a stiff challenger to Apple´s iPhone dominance in the market and the specification to back this claim.
Both Pixel will feature has a 5-inch Full HD display (5.5 Quad HD on the XL), 12.3-megapixel rear camera - rated as the best mobile phone camera sensor by DxO -, and an 8-megapixel front camera. On the inside, both will boast a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4GB RAM, 32GB/128GB storage, a 2770mAh battery. As for the software, it will come with the latest from Android - Nougat 7.1 – accompany with the new Pixel Launcher.
Another feature that is looking to change the mobile devices game is the Google Assistant built-in, one that claims to will be more advanced than Windows's Cortana and Apple's Siri.
Offering more than enough punch to compete and break the Iphone’s stronghold, the Pixel, and Pixel XL will hit the market worldwide on October 20th on the Google Store.
